Post Humanism, Trans Humanism, Cyborgs and Us

The contemporary era presents humanity with plenty of solutions to age-old problems but not all of them are met with acclaim. Our feeble, weak, and oh so temporary bodies are perhaps the next technological frontier but not everyone wants to ‘upgrade’ their natural form.

The traditional fear of the other seems to be leaking into our desire to embrace new, truly groundbreaking technologies. The trans humanist movement suggests that we could become much better than we currently are and that new innovations could enhance and extend our natural lives. Slowly but surely technology is making us much more distant (perhaps distinct) from nature than we’ve ever been before. Perhaps that’s the heart of trans humanism – to better the natural.
